5 Apps Every Workout Junkie Needs
The gym has begun to develop into a place of the 21st century. All sorts of smart wear and workout apps have surfaced that attempt to make your session easier to enjoy, easier to track, and easier to improve on. So we have here a list of our 5 favorite workout apps that do everything from tracking running to tracking food. We’re pretty sure you’ll love them as much as we do!
1. Calorie Counter - My Fitness Pal
There are plenty of meal trackers out there, but the user interface on this one is clean without sacrificing effectiveness. Either input the food you’re about to eat, or use a handy barcode scanner to shorten the process. The app can also sync up to your Fitbit or other fitness tracker, so it can adjust your daily calorie allowance to match your workouts. The best part? There are loads of healthy, yet delicious, recipes on here for you to tryout without going in the red for the day.
2. FitNotes Gym Workout Log
FitNotes is a necessity for any gym goer, especially those who focus a lot on weightlifting. Every time you hit the gym, you can create a log entry in the app of what workouts you did and even how heavy the weights were. This is perfect to track what you’ve done, analyze the results, and then make a smart decision on what changes need to be made to continue getting better. You can even edit the calendar so the days of the week are labeled to what session you do, such as “Leg Day”, “Chest Day”, etc.
3. Runtastic Running & Fitness
It would probably be faster to list what this all inclusive running app doesn’t do. What here are our favorite features: GPS tracker, audio feedback on how you’re doing with their virtual coach, yearly running goals, shoe miles tracker that tells you when it’s time to consider a new pair of running shoes, and the ability for your friends to track your run and send you a cheer on. Like we said, what doesn’t this app do?
4. Strava Running and Cycling
This is very similar to Runtastic Running & Fitness, but focuses more on the social approach. You can take your run and put it up on a competitive leaderboard to push you to go farther, run faster, and be the best. There’s no better motivator than a little healthy competition.
5. Motion Traxx
Music is probably one of the most crucial parts of feeling pumped for a workout. It also is a big factor in the pace you set which, in turn, sets the effectiveness of the overall session. Motion Traxx works with your routine to automatically pick and switch music that fits the desired pace during each part of your workout. There’s no guessing involved as Motion Traxx was designed with the input of world-class personal trainers.
So do you have those downloaded to your phone? Because, if you do, you’re all set to get out there and get to work. Maybe these apps are the extra push to lose those few pesky pounds or lift a few more weights this week. Whatever your goal, there is a fitness app out there to match it. We’ve only scratched the surface, so go take a look through your app store and see what works for you!
